Episode 168: Shawls for Falls

Welcome to the Knitting Samurai and Her Guys Video Podcast!  A Show about a scattered caffeinated mom who knits, loves her family, works full-time and tries to keep it all running smoothly.

Knitting Time:

Almost finished the Song of Sorrow by Sara Gresbach using Knit Picks Essential in the Jay colorway and Cascade Heritage Prints in Aqua Sol, 9848.  Using US size 6s – 4mm needles.  Love the pattern and added a picot edge.

Working slowly on the Kline Shawl by Jennifer Dassau.  Using Knit Picks Essential Kettle Dyed in Eggplant and Blue Moon Fiber Arts Medium Weight in Mist.  Using US size 6s – 4mm needles.

Cast on the Mad for Plaid Cowl by Alexandra Davidoff from Knitty First Fall 2016.  Using discontinued Berroco Softwist (59% Viscos, 41% wool) makes for a nice sheen, extremely splitty.  I had 1700 yards of this and will use about 400 for the cowl.  Pattern calls for US 5/6s.  I ended  up going up to 7s for the colorwork portion.

Shawl design using Koigu KPPPM from Heather.  It’s color P820, 100% merino yarn.  LOVE IT!  Only 175yards.  Will also use Claudia Handpaints Fingering in Oceans Depths if needed.  Also 100% merino with 175 yards per skein.  I have two of these and the colors are very close.  The contrasting color will be Knit Picks Essential Kettle Dyed in Gold.  Not the same twist but love the color difference.  75/25% wool/nylon.  Or I could go with some Fibernymph bounce with same twist….still considering.

Tristan is into Duplos and singing!
